TALES FROM THE TRAVELLING TREASURER

Here are a couple of photos from some of the Bowls Clubs I have visited and played at some of them.

If we think the Clubs in Brisbane are struggling then come out and visit the bush.  Numbers are well down due to the drought and getting those left to play is a struggle.  Winton has closed down and so has Julia Creek – see photos and you will see why.  Hughenden has beautiful facilities – synthetic green, shade cover and a great Club house – but they play once a week on Sundays and are lucky to get half a dozen players.  Longreach is the same.  All Clubs are staffed by the loyal volunteers.

I have had a couple of games so far but it is hard to rustle up any players to join you but have eventually played at Longreach and Hughenden.  Hoping to have another roll up in Conclurry.

Well enough of that; am having a great time travelling – recommend highly travelling Qld.  Never fear I shall return some time.  Brownie I will be back for the 4s final, don’t worry be happy.
